Service Overview

Drone Surveys for
Smart Urban Planning

Smart city development, urban master planning, and municipal administration require accurate, up-to-date geospatial data — something traditional survey methods struggle to provide at city scale. Our drone surveys deliver GIS-ready datasets covering entire cities in days, at resolutions that reveal individual structures, roads, and encroachments.

Drone surveys deliver 10–20x more data per survey team per day compared to traditional ground methods — making city-scale mapping economically viable for the first time.

  • Cover 50–500 sq.km per day depending on resolution
  • 5 cm GSD for individual building detection
  • GIS-ready outputs for SmartCity MIS platforms
  • 3D building models and height extraction
  • Land use / land cover classification maps
  • AMRUT, PMAY, Smart Cities Mission compatible

How It Works

Our Survey Process

City-scale surveys require careful flight planning, airspace coordination, and systematic data processing.
01
City Extent & Data Requirements

We define the survey area, resolution requirements, and specific data layers needed — land use, building heights, road network, or full GIS database.

02
Airspace Coordination (AAI/MoCA)

City surveys require coordinated airspace permissions from AAI. We handle all DGCA filings, NOCs, and airspace management for urban flying zones.

03
Multi-Mission Flight Operations

Systematic area coverage using multiple UAVs with coordinated flight blocks. Urban areas typically require high-resolution missions at 50–100m altitude.

04
Photogrammetric Processing

City-scale photogrammetric processing generates seamless orthomosaics, DSMs, and 3D point clouds of the entire survey area.

05
GIS Feature Extraction

Buildings, roads, land use zones, utilities, and other features are extracted from imagery and delivered as GIS vector layers for MIS integration.

06
Report & GIS Data Delivery

Final GIS data packages, 3D city models, and analysis reports delivered in formats compatible with SmartCity portals and urban planning software.

Frequently Asked

Smart City Survey FAQs

Can you survey an entire city in a single project?
Yes. We have completed city-scale surveys covering 100–500+ sq.km using coordinated multi-UAV operations. Entire municipal areas are typically completed in 3–10 days depending on size and resolution requirements.
Are DGCA permissions needed for city surveys?
Yes. Urban areas often fall in controlled airspace. We handle all DGCA UAS permissions, AAI coordination, and local authority NOCs as part of our project management service.
How is your data integrated with smart city platforms?
Deliverables are provided in standard GIS formats (Shapefile, GeoJSON, KMZ) compatible with ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and most Smart City Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) platforms.
Can you identify unauthorised constructions?
Yes. By comparing drone survey data against sanctioned building plans or previous surveys, we can identify encroachments, illegal constructions, and ROW violations for municipal enforcement.
Do you support SVAMITVA scheme surveys?
Yes. We provide drone mapping support for the SVAMITVA scheme for property card creation in rural inhabited areas — village-level orthomosaic maps and boundary delineation surveys.
